Need extra inspiration to reach your 2012 fitness goals?

Wish we could say the same at our Georgia Insurance office. Now that our problem solvers are embarking on a “Renewed You” fitness challenge involving working out and eating better, our team leaders (ahumm… names will remain undisclosed) aren't letting anyone slip.

Yet, many people don’t have the luxury of an office watchdog. Instead, they must find the motivation to get in their salads and sit-ups another way this year. And to our surprise, this may be for a price!

A new website, GymPact promises to pay you to exercise… and charge you when you don’t.

After you sign-up on the GymPact site, you commit to the number of days you want to exercise and what you’ll pay if you don’t. The minimum penalty is $5, but anonymous users have charged themselves up to $100 for a missed workout. The site inputs your credit card information to be dinged for every pre-committed day that’s missed.

"We've seen really good success so far," says Yifan Zhang, co-founder and CEO. "About 80% of the people who have signed up are hitting their goals."

At the moment, GymPact's entire staff consists of the three founders, who are working nearly round the clock to keep up with the 2,500 people who have signed up so far.

Interested in reaping rewards of a solid commitment? If you have an iPhone, you're in luck--just download GymPact's free iPhone application and you'll be allowed to check-in to your gym via mobile GPS.

The hardest part of the GymPact business seems to be collecting penalties and figuring out the rewards to those who’ve completed their commitments. However, those that are fulfilling their commitment are seeing financial (and physical) results between 46 and 72 cents per day of exercise.

You can try it out without putting your credit card information on the line. But, that also means you won’t be getting paid for your success!
