Meet The Staff of Gillman Insurance

Ed Gillman started the agency, Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers, in 1993 after moving to Atlanta from South Florida. His 30 years of insurance experience began as a third generation member of his family's agency in Miami. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Government (GO WAHOOS!) and The College of Insurance in New York City, with a Graduate Diploma in Risk and Insurance. Ed and his family live in Alpharetta where his daughters go to school and they are active in the community.

In addition to being Chief Problem Solver at Gillman Insurance, Ed wears many hats. He founded AgentSecure which is an online wholesale insurance operation and in partnership with Corporate Payroll Service, he started Corporate Insurance Solutions which provides business insurance solutions to payroll customers.

No matter what Ed is involved in or who he is working with he wants to hear from customers and prospects regarding their experience working with any of the following Problem Solvers. Tim Gaffney began his insurance career in 1975 after graduating from Florida International University. He received his Accredited Advisor of Insurance certification in 1984. He has taught insurance courses at the University of Miami and for various insurance associations in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Michigan. In mid-1995 Tim joined his long time friend, Ed Gillman, in their agency located in Alpharetta. They have adopted the slogan “Problem Solver” to differentiate their philosophy of serving their clients, and as a result, Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers is one of the fastest growing firms in the Southeast. In 2006 Tim became a Certified Worker’s Compensation Advisor, and is President of Georgia Workers’ Compensation Solutions, a division of Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers.

With over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, and specifically Workers Compensation, Tim has some significant accomplishments under his belt:

• Successfully orchestrated comprehensive Workers Compensation reforms passed in the Florida Legislature in 1990
• In 1993, served on the Florida Governor’s Worker’s Compensation Advisory Committee, passing the drug-free workplace legislation
• Helped pass Florida’s Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Authority
• Served on Florida Attorney General’s Board to reduce auto theft
• Served on Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s “Drugs Don’t Work” advisory committee
• Served on the Board for Georgia’s Council on Alcohol and Drugs for 3 years
• Graduated from Leadership North Fulton in 1999
• Past Chair of the Small Business Committee of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Board of Directors
• Current active member of the Alpharetta Rotary Club
• Currently serves on Congressman Tom Price’s Citizens Advisory Board

Di Smith began her career in the insurance industry in 1992, and has been a Personal Insurance Problem Solver with Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers since 1993. Di’s strengths focus on customer satisfaction and problem resolution. Her number one priority is to help all her clients protect their families and their hard-earned assets by providing them with personal insurance packages tailored to meet their specific needs.

With 20-years of personal insurance experience, Di is able to forecast industry trends and best position her clients to take advantage of what the industry has to offer. Di’s knowledge and customer commitment keep her clients coming back for more!

Deborah Stancel has been a part of the team at Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers since 2006, specializing in commercial insurance solutions for Georgia businesses. Deborah’s main goal is to provide the utmost in service to her clients in order to make sure they are completely satisfied!

Deborah is a wife to a fireman working in Forsyth County and mother to an energetic son. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Karen Stetz’s insurance experience spans over 10 years, including work in both personal and commercial lines. This well-rounded knowledge, along with Karen’s attention to detail and superior customer service make her the preferred photography insurance problem solver.

Born and raised in California, Karen considers herself a lover of the west coast. However, she finds it easy to adapt anywhere and welcomes her new residency in Georgia along with her 3-year old son.

When Karen’s not on the job, she enjoys swimming, surfing, wineries, socializing and spending time with family. And even though she doesn’t see traveling all over Europe or taking an exotic skii vacation to the Swiss Alps in her near future, Karen admits, ” I wouldn’t mind either getaway!”

Carla Martin is well versed in the insurance industry—with over 30 years of experience specializing in commercial lines. Whether it’s servicing accounts or contributing to marketing initiatives, she’s a “go-to” insurance problem solver!

Carla grew up on the beach in Savannah, referring to her home as “a corner of heaven.” When Carla’s not out boating and enjoying the sunshine, she’s either scrap-booking or spending time with her family. Carla calls her three children and two grandchildren, "my joy!"

Carla’s mission as a Gillman Insurance Problem Solver is to make sure that our commercial clients receive the best service possible at all times. Her extensive experience, industry knowledge and professionalism continue to make a lasting impression on our clients.

Cindy LeVos Koegel has been active in the insurance industry since 1983 and has been a trusted problem solver at Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers since 2011. Cindy’s 28 years of industry involvement have equipped her with superior insurance knowledge and customer service skills that make her an irreplaceable addition to the Gillman Insurance team.

Cindy was born in Santa Monica, California and spent most of her life there before moving to her new home in Dacula, Georgia. With four children, three grandchildren and one grandchild on the way, Cindy and her husband can’t seem to find a dull moment.

In her free time, Cindy might be sitting back watching an episode of Survivor or planning her next family trip to her favorite vacation destination, Disneyland!

Leah Redner attended Valdosta State University and earned a Bachelors of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.

She was employed with Siemens, Contel, and GTE for over 17 years administrating Defined Benefit Pension Plans and currently enjoys part-time employment with Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers.

Leah teaches ballet for Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance in Roswell. She dances in the annual production of The Nutcracker Suite with the Roswell Dance Theatre. Leah has also performed in Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Coppelia, and Paquita.

She has lived in Roswell for 20 years with her husband, 2 children, 2 dogs, 3 cats and a few fish.

Beth Wing, CIC AU brings to Gillman Insurance over 30 years of insurance experience as an agent, account manager, underwriter and technology trainer. She holds her Certified Insurance Counselor Designation and an Associate in Underwriting Designation. Beth is an enthusiastic Problem Solver and gets immense satisfaction from helping clients understand complex insurance issues.

Originally from Wisconsin, Beth has relocated to the warmer part of the country. She enjoys gardening, walking and swimming, and playing the piano.

Jessica graduated with honors from the University of Idaho’s College of Business and Economics, where she achieved her Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing, Fall 2009. Jessica was also an active member of her college sorority, Pi Beta Phi and held many leadership roles as a student.

Upon graduation, Jessica secured a public relations internship with one of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, Sheree Whitfield. Jessica became Ms. Whitfield’s personal assistant for almost a year following her move to Georgia. This work experience sparked Jessica’s interest in online public relations management and social media marketing.

Jessica became Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers’ Social Media and Marketing director in May 2011. Since then, she has enjoyed providing social media and marketing support to Gillman Insurance Problem Solvers’ commercial clients, in addition to building cross-network marketing opportunities for agency partners.

When Jessica’s not working on her Macbook, you’ll find her at a neighborhood coffee shop reading a book, shopping with friends or enjoying Atlanta’s social scene!
