Toyota recently made a pubic announcement about recalling almost a half-million vehicles! Our GA auto insurance experts, always aiming to minimize your risks on the road, want to bring this announcement to you!

Toyota recently announced a voluntary safety recall of 420,000 of its Toyota and Lexus models to replace the crankshift pulley. 283,200 Toyota owners, in addition to 137,000 Lexus owners, will be notified of this recall by first class mail starting early next year, January 2012.

The recall notification will request vehicle owners to make an appointment at their local Toyota dealership to have the part fixed free of charge.

What’s the Risk?
According to Toyota, there’s potential for the outer ring of the faulty crankshift to become misaligned, causing noise or triggering a warning light. If the issue isn’t addressed, it could cause the power steering pump belt to become detached from the pulley and the driver could notice the car becoming difficult to steer.

To date, there are no reports of accidents and/or injuries related to this circumstance. However, your Georgia Auto Insurance experts urge you to pay attention to those notices!

Models related to the recall include: 2004 Avalon, 2004 and 2005 Camry, Highlander, Sienna, and Solara, 2006 Highlander HV, 2004 and 2005 ES330 and RX330 and the Lexus hybrid 2006 RX400h. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicle models with 4 cylinder engines are involved. -earthtechling
